"The light shines in the darkness,

and the darkness can never extinguish it.

John 1:5 [NLT]

This time of the year, we become particularly aware of the dark nights and of course, Halloween as it comes round again.

But as this verse says The Light shines!

How ever dark the situation looks,

THE LIGHT SHINES!

What a great encouragement!

But it doesn't stop there!

The darkness can NEVER extinguish it!

There's a battle going on and as we've celebrated 90 years of what God has done and have stepped into a change of name and vision, which I believe God is wanting us to experience !

The darkness may try to extinguish the light but it cannot!

So don't let the darkness win in you!

Just keep looking to THE LIGHT!

Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus the author and perfector of our faith who for the joy set before him endured the cross!

He did it so that Light could conquer darkness in your life and situation!!!

And for all eternity!

It may feel like a battle but...

He has already Won!

Serving Others -  Matt 20:20-28.

Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant...

...For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others

and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Matthew 20:26 & 28.  [NIV]

We live in a world where power is sought after! Everyone wants the respect and  power that comes with position,  wanting the power but not the responsibility that comes with it.  Some people may criticise those in power and yet many of these leaders started out wanting position so they could make a difference.  But then, the struggle to do whats right  jades them and the temptation that comes from wanting to be successful take their toll and things easily drift off track.  So Jesus says if you want to lead in God's kingdom, you've got to serve.  You've got to be a servant of others, laying your rights down for the gain of others.  If you want to be great and successful, you've got to put others first.  The moment our focus goes from serving others to preserving or bettering ourselves, priorities and purpose start to drift.

We've all seen movies where the villain steps onto the scene demanding submission or else...  Jesus here says, 'Even the Son of Man!' Of all people he had the right to demand submission but he laid down his life for the needs of others, for the Salvation of the world.  Will you give your life, health, strength and finances to his cause? His Kingdom?  Will you be His servant?

There's plenty needing to be done!!!  LifeWell Church is counting on you!

Release International was inspired by the first hand experience of persecution by the founder, Pastor Richard Wurmrand, who was imprisoned and tortured by the Romanian secret police for 14 years in the 1950*s and 1960*s. The ministry involves showing God*s compassion for persecuted Christians by providing for their needs, supplying Bibles and literature for growth and evangelism and encouraging them to be good witnesses to those who oppose the Gospel. This year’s focus for Suffering Church Sunday is Nigeria where the Islamist group Boko Haram have been violently attacking Churches and Christian families.

PLEASE PRAY  :-

1 Thank God that He is Lord over Nigeria and the nation's future is in His hands even as Islamic extremists such as Boko Haram continue to persecute Christians. Ask God to strengthen the Church in Nigeria.

2 Pray that God will heal and comfort all those who were bereaved and injured in the suicide bombing of All Saints* Church in Peshawar, Pakistan where 80 people died and more than 145 were injured.

3 Pray that God will heal and comfort all those who were bereaved and injured in the Westgate shopping mall attack in Nairobi, Kenya carried out by the Islamist group al Shabaab.

4 Dear Heavenly Father we pray for an end to the destruction and constant suffering of Your people in Syria and Iraq.
